As an HSE Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance in a fast-paced port environment. You will advise management on prevention policies, conduct risk assessments, and drive a strong safety culture across all port operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement global and annual prevention plans.
- Conduct risk assessments in high-risk areas such as cargo handling and heavy equipment usage.
- Ensure compliance with Belgian HSE legislation and port safety regulations.
- Lead incident investigations and oversee corrective/preventive actions.
- Deliver safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Monitor safety KPIs and prepare reports for management.
- Act as a key liaison with regulatory bodies and external safety services.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through strong leadership and engagement.
- Certified Prevention Advisor Level 2.
- At least one year of experience in a high-risk industrial setting, preferably in the port or maritime sector.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian HSE legislation (Codex) and ISO 45001/14001.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
- Analytical and pragmatic approach to risk management.
