Faststream Recruitment, approved by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as an MLC Recruitment and Placement Service Provider, ensures compliance with Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 standards. Here are some key guidelines and helpful advice for candidates:

  • We prohibit any measures or blacklists aimed at preventing qualified seafarers from employment and welcome applications from all candidates. You can read our diversity & inclusion statement here

  • We do not charge candidates any fees during the placement process. We urge you to be aware of the rise of recruitment scams targeting job seekers

  • Costs such as travel visas and air tickets are covered by the vessel under MLC. If you are required to pay upfront, reimbursement will be completed upon employment commencement.

  • Seafarers Employment Agreements (SEA’s) must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including terms and conditions of employment that are not less favourable than MLC standards.

  • You have the right to review and receive a copy of the SEA before signing.

  • Ensure all sections of the SEA are completed accurately and to your satisfaction.

  • We ensure vessels have the financial capability to fulfil obligations, with appropriate insurance and protection in place as per MLC.

In case of complaints or grievances post-placement, you should follow onboard procedures. If unresolved, contact us or the UK MCA.
