Job Overview: As a Bunker Procurement Manager, you will be responsible for managing bunker purchasing activities, fostering supplier relationships, and optimizing business performance in the marine fuels sector. You will play a pivotal role in driving market growth, managing procurement, and staying updated on industry trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers in key ports across the region to ensure smooth procurement operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Bunker Trading & Cargo division to align purchasing strategies with regional business objectives and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Market Opportunities: Identify and pursue opportunities for back-to-back trading across bunkers, marine fuels (LSFO, MGO), lubricants, and other products to boost company profitability.
- Market Analysis: Prepare daily updates on global and regional bunker pricing, providing valuable market insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Financial Management: Oversee account receivables and payments related to bunker transactions, ensuring all inquiries are addressed efficiently.
- Business Growth: Identify new business opportunities within the marine fuel sector to increase market share and revenue.
- Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about developments in alternative fuels, new technologies, and market trends to maintain a competitive edge.
- Fuel Alternatives Assessment: Collaborate with the Fleet Technical and Sustainability teams to evaluate future fuel alternatives and provide recommendations for sustainable solutions.
- Procurement Support: Support the daily procurement process, including consumption reporting and analysis of global bunker pricing trends to guide procurement strategies and risk management decisions.
- Additional Tasks: Undertake other responsibilities and projects as directed by the supervisor.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years in purchasing, trading, or a related role within the bunker or marine fuel industry.
- Supplier Relationship Expertise: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and traders, particularly within the APAC region.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of operations, account management, and trading practices within the bunker and marine fuel sector.
- Business Portfolio Management: A demonstrated track record in successfully managing and expanding a business portfolio in the bunker industry.
- Educational Qualifications: A degree in business or a related field.
- Professional Experience: 4-6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in bunker procurement, vessel operations, and data analysis.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel is a must; familiarity with Tableau or similar business intelligence tools for data analysis is a plus.
- Personal Traits: Self-motivated, results-driven, and a problem-solver with a keen interest in improving processes and supporting effective decision-making.
