With the UK tides able to provide 12% of the country's electricity demand, my clients vision is to enable tidal energy to be a valued part of the renewable energy mix and to have a tangible impact on climate change, promoting clean oceans. It is the only form of renewable energy that is predictable – it has four peak power periods during the day, every day, 365 days a year, guaranteed. It doesn’t rely on weather conditions either. As a Tidal Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analysing tidal patterns, tidal shear and spatial variation of the tidal conditions within a site to support various projects related to. You will need a strong background in numerical modelling.
The Role:
Data Collection and Analysis-
- Gather tidal data from various sources, including monitoring stations, satellites, and other relevant instruments.
- Analyze tidal patterns and trends to identify key factors influencing tidal behavior.
- Develop and implement tidal models to simulate and predict tidal movements.
- Utilize specialized software tools to conduct simulations and assess the impact of tidal variations on specific projects.
- Have a strong background in wave and tidal modelling preferably in Telemac 2D/3D or Delft3D, MIKE21.
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing tidal analyses and findings.
- Communicate results effectively to internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with oceanographers, environmental scientists, and other experts to integrate tidal data into larger project plans.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure that tidal considerations align with project goals.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on data to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Implement corrective measures when necessary and maintain data integrity.
- Keep abreast of advancements in tidal analysis methodologies and technologies.
- Implement best practices and incorporate new techniques to enhance analysis processes.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in [relevant field, e.g., Oceanography, Environmental Science, Engineering].
- Proven experience in tidal analysis or a related field.
- Experience in Telemac, Delft 3D, MIKE21 or similar.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
