Overview: Join our clients dynamic team as a Port Duty Manager in a new position to expand the port team, where you'll oversee the port agency department and ensure the safe and smooth turnaround of all vessels within your jurisdiction. This role demands excellent service delivery and customer support, effective team management, and a strategic approach to operations. Regular travel to and within the ports is expected. (potential for night-shift projects). 

Location: Hull - UK.

Key Responsibilities:

Service Delivery:
  • Prioritize customer service and satisfaction
  • Ensure top-notch service level performance across all functions
  • Promote continuous business improvement, driving initiatives and leading projects for service excellence
  • Be able to manage varying customer interactions in the port.
Team Management:
  • Lead and motivate the port agency department
  • Set strategic direction and deliver agreed business results
  • Ensure coverage for out-of-office hours with an effective team roster and supporting the night shift projects.
  • Focus on leadership development, innovation, and knowledge transfer
  • Ensure compliance with QHSSE objectives
Finance & Commercial:
  • Manage the department’s P&L, maximizing revenue and managing costs
  • Support country and area management with customer visits and new business tenders
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients and seek new business opportunities
Vendors/Service Providers:
  • Maintain positive relationships with ports, terminals, suppliers, and other stakeholders
  • Manage an Approved Vendor List and ensure client requirements are communicated and understood
  • Work with the Strategic Sourcing team to negotiate competitive rates and ensure compliance with invoicing procedures
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in port management or a related field
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service orientation
  • IT literate and good knowledge of Microsoft programmes. 
  • Ability to travel regularly to the port for shift patterns.
