Naval Architect to join our team in supporting in-service fleet ships and assisting with heavy port equipment. This role will play a key part in ensuring the operational effectiveness and longevity of naval vessels, contributing to a wide range of engineering and design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide naval architecture expertise for in-service fleet support and maintenance.
- Conduct structural analysis, stability assessments, and hydrodynamic evaluations of vessels.
- Support the design, modification, and repair of naval ships and heavy port equipment.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, including marine engineers and project managers, to deliver technical solutions.
- Undertake surveys, inspections, and audits of ships to assess and recommend necessary improvements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and classification society requirements.
- Contribute to risk assessments and safety case development for vessel operations.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers (for Senior Naval Architect positions).
- A degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in naval architecture, preferably in a defence or maritime environment.
- Strong understanding of ship structures, stability, and hydrodynamics.
- Experience with software tools such as AutoCAD, Rhino, and specialist naval architecture programs.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (preferred for Senior Naval Architect role).
- Must have the rights to work and live in the UK and be able to obtain SC level clearance.
