Are you passionate about environmental compliance and eager to make a positive impact in the maritime industry? Our client is seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Environmental Systems team within the Environmental Operations & Compliance Department. As the Head of Environmental Systems, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and adherence to all environmental rules and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer ISO 14001 and ISO 21070, contributing to the administration of ISO 9001, ISO 50001, and ISO 22000 in relation to environmental program processes.
  • Plan and manage internal environmental audits, ensuring full compliance with regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor daily vessel activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies, maintaining open communication with ship command and onboard officers.
  • Liaise with Port Agencies and stakeholders, developing effective strategies and programs.
  • Coordinate with various departments for the administration of carbon emissions reporting schemes.
  • Collaborate with safety, training, and academy departments for environmental training programs.
  • Review and ensure correct application of procedures, manuals, record books, and all applicable environmental documentation.
  • Update and check environmental legislation, national, and international rules in coordination with Environmental Operations Managers.
  • Cooperate with EHS Officer for island training programs, internal audits, compliance, and reporting.
  • Analyze costs and environmental performances, cooperating with Port Operations in developing environmental programs.
  • Contribute to Environmental Department and multidisciplinary projects involving different departments.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in a similar shore-based role within the maritime industry.
  • Fluent in oral and written English; knowledge of Italian and other major European languages is advantageous.
  • Preferred environmental science university studies; post-graduate studies in the area of interest are a plus.
  • Wide knowledge of the Cruise/Maritime industry.
  • Previous onboard experience in roles such as Environmental Officer, Deck Officer, or Engineer Officer is preferred.
  • Previous experience in the technical environmental area.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and company-specific operating platforms.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • Proven ability to lead and contribute to a harmonious and productive team environment.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex regulations, environmental matters, and financial considerations.
  • Comfortable working in a multicultural and international environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
