My client, a recognised leader in the freight and logistics sector, is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their commercial team. This role is central to delivering new business opportunities, managing high-value accounts, and increasing sales volume across a diverse route network.
This is a commercially focused position where you will be responsible for identifying and securing new customers, maintaining strong relationships with existing accounts, and contributing to long-term revenue growth.
Responsibilities
- Identify and secure new business to drive volume and revenue growth
- Manage and develop key customer accounts across all routes
- Achieve monthly sales targets and KPIs
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity, sharing insights with the team
- Conduct client outreach through cold calling, research, and meetings
- Maintain accurate records using Salesforce
- Support marketing initiatives and represent the business at client events
- Contribute to pricing strategies based on customer segmentation
- Ensure all sales administration is completed accurately and on time
- Achieve volume and revenue targets
- Convert a minimum of 8 new accounts from lead to trading status each month
- Complete at least 25 face-to-face client visits per month
- Maintain a minimum of 80% productivity on sales-related activities
- Develop and manage a robust pipeline of sales opportunities
- Proven experience in B2B sales, ideally within the freight, shipping, or logistics sectors
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, and target-driven
- Commercially astute, with an analytical approach to sales strategy
- Proficient in using CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Comfortable operating independently and within a team structure
