Position Overview:

As a Technical Superintendent, you will be directly responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, economical, and reliable operation of assigned vessels.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent / Port Engineer or Chief Engineer with tanker experience to manage 3 tankers with the support of a Port Engineer. 

You will focus on maintaining the performance of all onboard equipment and systems, working closely with vessels’ senior officers, office staff, Classification Society, and personnel.

Your role involves overseeing parts and materials acquisition, as well as managing both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair activities.

Working Arrangement:

For experienced Technical Superintendents we can consider working from home arrangements. Travel will be required to the vessels throughout the year. You should be prepared to travel approximately 1 week per month. 

For Chief Engineers looking for a first shore based position, ideally we would like you to be able to commute to the company's office in Houston to begin with. 

Due to security clearance requirements, you will be a US Citizen, but you will not be required to live in the US.  

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the technical operations and management of assigned fleet vessels.
  • Monitor vessel performance and efficiency through regular review of performance reports.
  • Review vessel engineering logs to ensure compliance with operational policies, procedures, and equipment guidelines.
  • Track vessel maintenance, ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules and identifying overdue jobs.
  • Analyze and refine planned maintenance programs, develop equipment life-cycle plans, and recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Masters and Chief Engineers to review equipment status, prepare worklists, and coordinate contractor assistance.
  • Schedule and oversee vessel voyage repairs.
  • Conduct regular ship visits to inspect machinery, propulsion systems, cargo handling equipment, accommodations, and deck areas. 
  • Plan and manage the implementation of safety and operational upgrades, including securing necessary equipment and materials.
  • Conduct onboard inspections and personnel evaluations during voyages to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparing Technical and HSEQ budgets, proposing equipment and system improvements based on maintenance reviews.
  • Provide on-site technical support and management for voyage repairs during hull or machinery damage, coordinating requisition and installation of necessary equipment and materials.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent apprenticeship/training program.
  • Sailing experience on tankers, with a Chief Engineer’s license endorsed by an internationally recognized Flag State preferred.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and attention to detail skills.
  • Proven project management capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required by the position.
