Are you an experienced Chief Engineer (COC Class 1) with a strong background in container vessels? Do you have shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent and the ability to manage vessel operations while liaising with Chinese stakeholders? If so, this opportunity could be for you.

A leading ship management company is seeking a Technical Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of a fleet of container vessels. Based in Singapore, this role requires Mandarin proficiency to engage with Chinese shipowners, suppliers, and crew.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the technical performance, maintenance, and compliance of assigned container vessels.
  • Plan and manage dry-docking, repairs, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Monitor and control budgets related to vessel operations and technical expenses.
  • Work closely with vessel captains, chief engineers, and crew to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM, class, flag state, and international regulations.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and incident investigations.
  • Liaise with Chinese shipowners, suppliers, and service providers.
  • Conduct regular vessel inspections, audits, and performance assessments.
What We Are Looking For
  • Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (COC Class 1) – Essential
  • Shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent – Minimum of two years required
  • Container vessel experience – Either as a Superintendent or a former Chief Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of ship maintenance, dry-docking, and repair management
  • Fluent in Mandarin – Able to communicate effectively with Chinese stakeholders
  • Familiarity with ISM, class requirements, and maritime regulatory compliance
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Willingness to travel for vessel inspections and dry-docking when required
