Job Description:

Faststream is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Superintendent on behalf of our client for their operations in the Middle East. This is a rotational contract role of 9 weeks on and 9 weeks off, offering a unique opportunity to significantly impact their success by maintaining high technical standards and ensuring seamless operations.

As a Technical Superintendent, you will be responsible for the technical operational deployment, maintenance, and docking of vessels. You will lead the team to ensure vessels are in excellent technical and maintenance condition, inspiring and motivating crew members.

Your role will include planning and supervising repairs, inspections, and dockings, and managing technical and financial performance. You'll be monitoring maintenance progress, handling technical queries, building strong relationships with suppliers and external parties, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

You will coordinate and execute maintenance work on board, ensuring quality standards are met. Planning, organizing, and supervising repairs, inspections, and dockings, and preparing final technical and financial reports will be part of your daily tasks. Acting as the first point of contact for the international crew regarding technical questions or defects, you will provide technical advice and support to Chief Engineers on board.

You'll instruct and monitor maintenance progress and quality via the PM System (MARAD), investigate and analyze technical defects, and implement preventive and corrective measures in a timely manner. Conducting inspections and guiding surveys on board by external parties, drawing up and monitoring maintenance budgets, approving purchase orders, and following up on received goods will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will liaise with suppliers, classification societies, and other external parties, monitor and update ship certificates and technical documents, and handle damage reports and claims.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience as a TSI/Port Engineer or Chief Engineer on similar vessels.  You should have international work experience, preferably in the Middle East, and possess strong managerial and project management skills. Being an effective technical instructor and team player with a hands-on mentality is crucial. Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required, and proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
