Job Description

The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) is seeking an accomplished Technical Secretary to manage the organisation’s technical operations, ensuring the development and delivery of industry standards, IT systems, and global representation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and digitise IACS procedures, IT systems, and technical databases.
  • Manage technical staff and liaise with senior stakeholders globally.
  • Coordinate and deliver Council and GPG meetings, including agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain technical records, resolutions, and publications, ensuring their accuracy and accessibility.
  • Respond to external technical requests and prepare impactful presentations and documents.
  • Represent IACS at international meetings and foster industry collaboration.
The Ideal Candidate:

This pivotal role demands an experienced professional with:
  • In-depth knowledge of naval architecture, marine engineering, or regulatory frameworks within the maritime industry.
  • Ability to manage complex technical and legislative matters under scrutiny.
  • Proven capacity to engage with international regulators, industry executives, and civil society with diplomacy.
  • Willingness to dedicate at least five years, with some international travel.
