Job Description

We are seeking a Technical Purchaser to join our clients Purchasing Department on a permanent basis. Based in Southampton, UK, this role plays a key part in ensuring our clients  vessels are supplied with authorized stores, spare parts, and services in line with the company’s quality and purchasing policies. Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive requisitions from assigned vessels and obtain approval from the Technical or Marine Superintendent.
  • Source and liaise with global vendors, negotiating pricing, delivery terms, and lead times.
  • Issue purchase orders and track deliveries or services to ensure timely completion.
  • Verify delivery notes or service reports against vendor invoices and coordinate with Accounts for payment processing.
  • Conduct cost reduction projects, optimize supplier relationships, and minimize procurement risks.
  • Assist with other procurement-related duties as needed.
Requirements:
  • Academic or professional qualifications in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a purchaser in the shipping industry or a relevant field.
  • Experience working with global vendors and a strong awareness of costs and quality standards.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with procurement software (e.g., Shipnet, DNVGL, NS5).
  • Strong communication, negotiation skills, and a positive, self-driven attitude.
