We are looking for a Ship Agent to join a well-known Port Agency in Essex. This role requires flexibility, independence, and confidence in driving to different port locations, particularly outside of office hours. You’ll receive full training, but a proactive and adaptable mindset is essential.

Location: Essex
Salary: Base salary + £5k car allowance + fuel expenses + overtime package
Hours: Monday–Friday, 9–5 + on-call rotation (evenings, weekends, bank holidays)

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinating vessel arrivals and departures, ensuring smooth operations
Liaising with ship captains, port authorities, and clients
Managing documentation, including customs declarations and bills of lading
Ensuring compliance with port regulations and international shipping laws
Rotating on-call duties every three weeks (some nights and weekends)
Driving to different ports (car allowance and fuel expenses provided)
Problem-solving and handling unforeseen challenges in real-time
Maintaining accurate records of vessel movements and cargo handling

What We’re Looking For:

Must have a full driving license
Willingness to work outside standard hours (weekends, nights, bank holidays)
A proactive, confident, and adaptable attitude
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under pressure
