I am working closely with a global yacht management company, who have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join their Fort Lauderdale office.

You will be required to reside within a commuter distance from the Fort Lauderdale office. Candidates must have the existing right to live and work in the USA. No sponsorship will be offered as part of this position.

The Yacht Management Accounting Department provides comprehensive Accounting and Reporting services to vessel owners and crew. The Senior Yacht Accountant serves as the primary point of contact for these functions.

Responsibilities

 
Supervisory:

  • Develop, organize, and implement departmental procedures for efficient retrieval and training of the Accounting Management team.
  • Supervise Yacht Managers and ensure compliance with established procedures.
  • Provide training, guidance, and support to Yacht Accountants, collaborating to address any challenging situations.
  • Set up bank accounts and banking platforms, maintaining banking relationships.
  • Arrange bank cards for the Captain and Crew.
Financial Reporting & Budgeting:
  • Coordinate Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual budgets for each vessel in collaboration with the Captain and Yacht Managers, as requested by the owner.
  • Prepare budgets with charts and graphs for effective presentation.
  • Conduct budget variance analysis with the Captain and Yacht Manager, as necessary.
  • Present funding requests to the owner based on budget projections and cash reserves.
Accounts Payable:
  • Establish and communicate expenditure approval levels with the Owner, Captain, and Crew.
  • Review and process payable invoices in accordance with established approval protocols.
  • Submit monthly reconciled debit/credit card statements and supporting reports to the Corporate Accounting Manager.
Payroll / Crew Administration:
  • Process payroll and provide funding to a third-party payroll company each month.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of similar experience, including supervising an accounting team.
  • Prior industry experience preferred.
