An exciting opportunity for a  Programme Manager of Systems Engineering to join the market leader in clean marine technology, Silverstream Technologies.

 Silverstream Technologies was founded in 2010 with the aim of optimising fuel efficiency in the Maritime sector using air lubrication technology. The Silverstream® System is a proven energy saving technology, delivering 5-10% net fuel and emissions savings and can be used on both retrofit and newbuild vessels. Air lubrication is a strategically important technology which addresses the immediate decarbonisation requirements and the operational efficiency challenges emanating from future energy transitions.

Location: Chandlers Ford, Southampton Office OR London HQ, Marylebone. 

Reporting to: 
Lead Systems Engineer

The focus of this role will be to support the Systems Engineering technical team, taking responsibility for managing the team, its workload and ensuring process is followed and activities are conducted in accordance with best practice.

You will lead, manage and co-ordinate specific product development activities, focusing on managing the discipline team members and their tasks as well as taking complete ownership of various programmes. These activities will span from concept phase and working with the IR&D team, through to the installation of innovative systems on first of Class vessels.

A key aspect of the role will be defining, developing, testing, and analysing solutions aimed at improving the performance and reliability, as well as overseeing the specification of systems and managing the technical relationship with key OEMs, chief amongst which is the Control and Monitoring System provider.

You will ensure timely delivery of ‘Application Engineering’ support from the discipline in relation to live projects, prioritising activities as required to meet project needs. You will be responsible for the quality of deliverables in discipline, ensuring that the System Engineering discipline retains the correct skill set to expedite project demands effectively.

Experience / Qualifications Required:

  • Clear team leadership experience in discipline within a fast and dynamic environment.
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable.
  • Knowledge of HMI design and modification following industry best practice.
  • Knowledge of PLC Programming on platforms following IEC 61131.
  • Knowledge of Model Based design and simulation processes.
  • Knowledge of Object-oriented programming languages advantageous.
  • Experience of working in a Product oriented engineering environment.
  • System integration and working on multi-discipline projects.
  • Project/ Programme Management experience.
  • Knowledge of Network and communications protocols (e.g., Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, NMEA).
  • Degree in electrical, electronic, or automation related subject.
  • Chartered Engineering Status is desirable although not essential.
  • A Minimum of 5 years working in automation and control or a similar technical discipline in the Marine industry.
  • In depth knowledge of marine classification society rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Good personal organisational skills.
  • Understand business objectives and can influence stakeholders to meet objectives.
  • Willing to travel within base country and occasionally overseas.
