You will work for a niche commercial pool operator and technical manager specialising in the MR & LR tanker segment. The highly experienced Ship Operations team manages the day-to-day operations of 11 tankers from their West London office.

This forward-thinking company is willing to provide support and training to develop this role into a Commercial Vessel Operations role within a short timeframe.

Initially, as a Port Disbursements (DA Desk) Coordinator, you will be a crucial part of the Operations Department. Your primary responsibility will be to handle port cost disbursements (PDA) efficiently, from the time a vessel is fully fixed until all FDA are settled with port agencies. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, you will:
  • Calculate, negotiate, analyze, and handle proforma and final disbursements
  • Settle disbursement invoices directly with agents
  • Review charter party agreements to ensure cost items for charterers' accounts
  • Cross-check Port Authorities and Agents’ disbursement invoices
  • Negotiate and resolve any disputes or discrepancies with agents
  • Provide supporting material to the accounts department and update systems accordingly
Ideally, you will have a formal academic qualification in Shipping and 1-2 years of experience in a related role, such as Tanker Operations or Disbursements. A solid understanding of basic shipping terminology is essential. You must be adaptable to changing working conditions, possess excellent communication skills, and be proficient in both written and spoken English. Strong PC knowledge and effective interpersonal and teamwork skills are also required.

This is a permanent, office-based role with no hybrid working option.
