Faststream are working with a marine, offshore and engineering consultancy in their search for a MWS Engineer. They have offices in London, Newcastle, Aberdeen and Glasgow so are open to all locations.
The Role:
The MWS team plays an integral role in marine operations of all sizes, from new technology demonstrators to the largest energy projects. The role would suit a practical engineer looking to broaden their skills across a wide range of disciplines and has an interest in helping operations develop from the drawing board to execution.
This person will support the Marine Warranty department in all aspects of the function, including managing projects, reviewing engineering documents related to offshore and subsea construction and will attend on board vessels or on site to approve operations as required.
Responsibilities-
- Deliver engineering, MWS and other consultancy projects to meet quality and budget expectations.
- Review engineering documentation produced by contractors for MWS projects.
- Be client focal point for MWS projects.
- Undertake independent calculations when needed to verify the calculations submitted.
- Advise the client and contractor of any critical areas contained in the engineering that may result in losses or damages during the project execution phase.
- Partake in hazard identification workshops and ensure the risks during the planned installations is as low as possible.
- Attend operations on board vessels or at construction sites, review and approve changes and issue certificates of approval as required.
- Advise the client team on site regarding the Warranty function and ensure the client is covered as required by the CAR policy.
- Participate in HSE awareness and contribute to recording of statistics.
- Maintain financial awareness of projects and invoice in a timely manner.
- Participate in marine consultancy work with other departments.
- Utilise technical software efficiently and effectively.
- Prepare proposals for new work.
- Maintain and develop contacts and advise on new business opportunities.
- Develop analysis capability and efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance to and mentor junior technical staff.
- Have a degree qualification in Naval Architecture or related discipline.
- Have experience working in the marine industry, with extensive offshore construction/operations experience.
- Be registered or have sufficient experience to register with a professional body relevant to offshore engineering.
- Be familiar with the role of the Marine Warranty Surveyor.
- Be familiar with structural design and / or hydrodynamic design procedures.
- Possess or be willing to attain BOSIET/GWO and Offshore Medical in order to travel offshore.
