The Role:
As a Mechanical Engineer you will support the design development of Power Conversion and Auxiliary Systems for Floating Nuclear Power Plants. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and experience in mechanical design in both marine and nuclear industries. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to lead technically in an emerging market.
  
Responsibilities-
  • - Responsible for thermodynamic modelling of Power Conversion and Auxiliary systems.
  • - Responsible for producing Statements of Work for procurement of technical services.
  • - Liaising with stakeholder; designers, classification societies, regulators, nuclear technology developers to manage designs against evolving requirements.
  • - Authoring high quality technical reports, calculations, and academic papers.
  • - Performing first-principle engineering calculations to investigate feasibility of high-level design concepts.
  • - Supporting the Principal Marine Engineer and Naval Architect with the integration of a Floating Nuclear Power Plant.
The Person:
  • - Masters in mechanical engineering, Systems Engineering or equivalent. A PhD in Engineering or Physics is highly desirable.
  • - 2 years’ plus experience in the nuclear and / or marine industry.
Required Skills / Experience-
  • Direct experience in multidisciplinary design projects in the Nuclear and / or Marine industry.
  • Experience in writing or supporting work specifications for technical service providers.
  • Good understanding of power conversion cycles and application in the Nuclear and / or marine industry.
  • Comfortable with thermodynamics calculations and numerical simulations.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to manage design uncertainties.
  • Comfortable with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, preferably SolidWorks and / or AutoCAD.
