As part of the exciting journey of rapid growth, Silverstream are expanding looking to recruit an experienced and professional leader in the role of Head of Performance. 

Reporting To: CSO

Location: London / Southampton office, including Hybrid Working

The Head of Performance will be responsible for the timely and accurate execution of works associated with both the provision of performance estimates, and the analysis of Air Lubrication System performance post installation at ship, the latter inclusive of the conduct of trials.  
 
Within management of the function the Head of Performance will mentor the function so as to ensure that individual team members are appropriately developed, with the function as a whole delivering the most professional of analysis services, the team striving to set the industry benchmark for such works.   

The Head of Performance will support and guide team communications in relation to sharing performance information inclusive of the delivery of trials and performance analysis reports both internally and to clients (Ship Owners, Operators and Charterers) as required.
  
The Head of Performance is the Chair of our Expert Ship Performance Committee (ESPC) whose role is to guide and agree the build of processes, procedures, and methodologies to be applied to determination of ALS Performance. 

Experience / Qualifications Required:

  • Higher Degree in engineering, mathematics, statistics or equivalent science based subject.

  • Chartered Status as an Engineer is desirable and as a minimum the individual should be able to demonstrate clear pathway to achieving said status.

  • Experience in conducting formal trials at ship, specifically in the context of ship performance, is essential.

  • A detailed knowledge of ship resistance and propulsion is essential. 

  • A robust understanding of hydrodynamics and execution of experimental works relating thereto is desirable. 

  • Demonstrable experience in leading technical teams in delivery. 

  • Demonstrable experience in Stakeholder management, especially in the context of conflicting demands from senior colleagues. 

  • Demonstrable experience with ISO/ITTC standards associated with ship performance.   

  • Previous experience of using data analysis within an engineering or business context.  

  • Ability to code in Python, MatLab, SQL or similar is desirable.
