We’re partnering with a well-established shipowner to appoint a senior technical leader who will drive their global newbuilding programme across Asia.
This is a rare opportunity for someone with the gravitas and hands-on experience to lead multi-million-dollar construction projects, liaise with top-tier yards, and ensure vessels are delivered to the highest technical and safety standards — on time and on budget.
The Role You will be responsible for end-to-end oversight of all new vessel construction — from concept design and yard negotiations through to delivery, trials, and handover.
Working closely with naval architects, shipyards, and internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure quality, safety, and commercial viability are prioritised throughout.
Key Focus Areas
- Leading and managing all newbuilding projects, from design to sea trials
- Overseeing multiple projects across China and Korea shipyards
- Managing budgets, timelines, resource allocation, and contractor performance
- Ensuring full compliance with Class, IMO, and environmental regulations
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
- Driving innovation and continuous improvement in technical processes and procurement
- Class 1 COC, or degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture
- Proven experience in shipbuilding, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role
- Hands-on experience managing containership newbuilds in China and Korea
- Proven ability to lead multi-site shipbuilding programmes
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, pre-outfitting sequences, and quality assurance
- A strategic thinker with strong project management, communication, and negotiation skills
