Are you a customs and logistics expert with a passion for compliance and operational excellence? A rapidly growing port agency is looking for a skilled Customs & Compliance Specialist to ensure adherence to UK customs regulations, support logistics operations, and drive process improvements.
The Role In this role, you will:
✅ Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations and maintain up-to-date knowledge of HMRC requirements.
✅ Act as the go-to expert for all customs procedures, supporting legal obligations and best practices.
✅ Support a major project launching.
✅ Assist with Duty Deferment account queries, liaising between departments and HMRC.
✅ Handle import/export operations, helping to generate additional revenue.
✅ Manage compliance and risk, conducting audits and updating internal processes.
✅ Coordinate logistics services, including freight negotiations, invoicing, and customer service.
✅ Work closely with authorities, maintaining communication with HMRC and supporting inspections.
What We're Looking For
3+ years' experience in Freight Forwarding, Import/Export, or a related field.
5+ years’ experience in customs clearance.
Deep understanding of UK & international customs regulations, including tariff classification, valuation, and origin rules.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with customs software & EDI systems.
BIFA-BTEC Customs Qualification (or equivalent).
Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
