Position Summary
The Vice President of Operations (VP Operations) will report directly to the CEO and be a pivotal member of the senior management team. The VP Operations will oversee production, dock operations, facility maintenance, and subcontractor management to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of ship repair projects.
Key Responsibilities
Ship Repair & Production Oversight
- Lead the execution of ship repair across multiple simultaneous projects.
- Coordinate diverse ship repair trades to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Ensure adherence to contracted timeframes, budgets, and project plans.
- Develop resource plans for all trades to support project execution.
- Oversee and enhance the company’s apprenticeship program to build a sustainable workforce for the future.
- Manage and grow a multicultural workforce from 350 to 800+ employees.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in ship repair processes.
- Identify and prioritise capital requirements for facility and operational growth.
- Contribute to the formulation and execution of the company’s long-term business strategy.
- Manage multiple trade workshops and maintain state-of-the-art facilities.
- Ensure robust maintenance of floating dry docks and supporting infrastructure.
- Uphold high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance across all operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven senior leadership experience in ship repair or shipbuilding.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a workforce of 800+ employees, including multiple trades.
- Experience working with multinational and multicultural teams.
- Expertise in floating dock operations is preferred.
- Background in cruise ship repair will be considered a strong advantage.
- Track record of driving business improvements and managing large-scale projects successfully.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage a diverse team.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to operational challenges.
