Job Description

As Grand Bahama Shipyard embarks on a major expansion program to add two of the world's largest floating dry docks, the business will scale to accommodate the largest cruise and commercial vessels. This expansion requires a significant increase in workforce from 350 to 800+ employees over the next three years while maintaining the company's high standards of safety, environmental management, and quality.

Position Summary

The Vice President of Operations (VP Operations) will report directly to the CEO and be a pivotal member of the senior management team. The VP Operations will oversee production, dock operations, facility maintenance, and subcontractor management to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of ship repair projects.

Key Responsibilities

Ship Repair & Production Oversight
  • Lead the execution of ship repair across multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Coordinate diverse ship repair trades to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to contracted timeframes, budgets, and project plans.
Workforce & Resource Management
  • Develop resource plans for all trades to support project execution.
  • Oversee and enhance the company’s apprenticeship program to build a sustainable workforce for the future.
  • Manage and grow a multicultural workforce from 350 to 800+ employees.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Planning
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in ship repair processes.
  • Identify and prioritise capital requirements for facility and operational growth.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of the company’s long-term business strategy.
Facility & Maintenance Oversight
  • Manage multiple trade workshops and maintain state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Ensure robust maintenance of floating dry docks and supporting infrastructure.
Safety & Compliance
  • Uphold high standards of safety, environmental compliance, and quality assurance across all operations.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven senior leadership experience in ship repair or shipbuilding.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a workforce of 800+ employees, including multiple trades.
  • Experience working with multinational and multicultural teams.
  • Expertise in floating dock operations is preferred.
  • Background in cruise ship repair will be considered a strong advantage.
  • Track record of driving business improvements and managing large-scale projects successfully.
