Faststream Recruitment is working with a leading global shipping company to hire an experienced Marine Training Instructor for their specialist training centre in Glasgow.

This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality, in-person training courses for seafarers, covering both operational and management-level competencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering training programs, ensuring alignment with industry regulations, and contributing to the continuous improvement of competency standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a range of mandatory and specialist training courses for ship officers, utilizing classroom and simulator-based instruction.
  • Develop training programs in accordance with STCW, IMO model courses, and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with simulator software providers to implement training solutions for next-generation vessel technologies.
  • Conduct student assessments to monitor progress, verify competence, and enhance instructional methods.
  • Maintain and update course content to reflect regulatory changes and industry advancements.
  • Support recruitment and promotion processes by participating in interviews.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the training centre and deputize for the Training Centre Manager as required.
  • Represent the company at industry forums and professional working groups.
Skills & Experience Required:
  • Class 1 Certificate of Competency (STCW II/2 Deck) with a valid Tanker Endorsement (Liquefied Gas).
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Willingness to obtain instructor and competency assessor qualifications in line with IMO Model 1.30.
  • Extensive experience at a senior level (Master, Chief Officer) on board gas tankers, ideally including LNG.
  • Existing right to live and work in the UK
Preferred Experience:
  • Involvement in shipbuilding, refit, or dry-docking projects for gas carriers.
  • Recognized maritime instructor qualification (e.g., Train the Trainer).
  • Membership of a professional maritime institution.
  • Completion of a simulator-based management course aligned with industry competency standards.
  • Hands-on experience with bridge and cargo simulators.
