This is a Weipa-based role that requires full-time residency in the area.
The Role Reporting directly to the Contract Manager, the Technical Superintendent will be responsible for maintaining the technical status of the fleet, ensuring safe and cost-effective operations, and overseeing dry dockings and maintenance activities. This role will play a pivotal part in maximizing vessel uptime while adhering to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day vessel operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as the main point of contact for customer representatives on-site.
- Manage running maintenance, planned maintenance systems, and technical operations within budget.
- Approve and manage purchase orders and requisitions, ensuring accurate inspection of delivered goods.
- Supervise, coach, and support Chief Engineers to uphold high technical standards.
- Conduct vessel inspections, providing regular reports on technical status and performance.
- Investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective/preventative actions.
- Arrange surveys with flag state, classification societies, and other relevant parties.
- Coordinate and execute dry dockings, adhering to quality, budget, and timelines.
- Supervise contractors and vendors, ensuring optimal performance and cost-efficiency.
- Oversee vessel certification compliance with flag state and classification standards.
- Maintain open communication with vessels, ensuring smooth technical operations.
What We’re Looking For:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering or Naval Architecture.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in ship management as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
- A proven track record in project management and technical operations.
- Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and the ability to deliver timely, high-quality outcomes.
- A team player with excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Experience supervising and managing vessel dry dockings, maintenance, and compliance.
