As part of the team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the timely delivery of vessels and cargo, supporting operations that span continents—from Nigeria to the East Coast of the U.S. and South America.
We are looking for a motivated, resilient, and self-driven individual to join the team and help manage over 20 vessels and support company expansion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vessel & Cargo Management: Take full ownership of cargo shipments up to 85,000 tonnes, ensuring timely delivery over voyages ranging from 10 days to two months. You’ll maintain continuous communication with charterers, ship-owners, and ship crews via email and phone.
- Bunker Coordination: Calculate and arrange bunker supplies, working with bunker suppliers, traders, port agents, and vessel captains to ensure timely fuel procurement.
- Port Operations: Oversee loading and discharge operations at port, coordinating with port agents, obtaining quotations, and fulfilling vessel obligations, particularly in high-risk areas at sea.
- Laytime & Freight Management: Handle laytime calculations, vessel hire statements, and freight payments, ensuring monetary settlements with all relevant parties.
- Client Relations: Regularly meet with clients face-to-face to develop and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships, contributing to business growth and ensuring high-quality service.
- Experience: several years of experience in a similar role within the shipping or maritime industry is essential. The ideal candidate should be able to manage operations independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Must be highly proficient with MS Office, particularly Excel for calculations and reporting.
- Strong Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. You should be capable of drafting clear and professional emails to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Attention to Detail & Numeracy: High attention to detail and strong numeracy skills to ensure accurate calculations and efficient handling of shipments and financial transactions.
- Adaptability & Initiative: Ability to quickly adapt to company practices and the drive to continuously improve operations.
