Role - R&D Technical Engineer
Location - Uxbridge, Greater London
Please note this role is 5 days permanent office based, with occasional travel. No hybrid working is available, candidates must relocate and support is available.
In this role, you will be a recognised expert within the marine engineering discipline for development of the new solutions. You will have a good understanding of the growth and progression within the marine engineering discipline and how these should be effectively implemented on board our fleet of Vessels. You will also be actively focussing on new technologies and how they can be applied to new projects, and retrofits across our fleet.
Key Points
• Collaborate in the design development, system, and evaluation of equipment specifications to ensure that all statutory, company safety and operational standards and requirements are observed throughout
• Perform market research to determine what types of products might be technically successful, while researching products on the marketing, looking at how they are performing and their viability for our vessels
• Monitor current and changing marine engineering practices across the fleet and act on feedback of the performance of vessels in service
• Monitor the performance of fleet equipment and services provided by manufactures
• Follow up and provide technical input on warranty failure claims in conjunction with the Guarantee Engineer
• Where required, you will assist in managing the department’s workflow in terms of reviewing specifications, drawings, diagrams, and the technical submissions
Key Qualifications
• Experience in sailing as a 2nd Engineer, or higher, onboard Cruise vessels
• Experience carrying out Inspections and Plan Approvals are essential
• Degree qualified in a specialist area such as Marine Engineering, or significant experience in the relevant areas such as Cruise Engineering
•Experience working in close contact with classification societies and other professional bodies
• Ability to analyse technical information and make informed recommendations
• Experience producing precise technical reports and detailed product plans
• Have a working understands of the underlying (naval) architectural principals
• Strong computer proficiency, Excel (including use of formulas, charts, and tables), Power Point and Word
