About the Company:
My client is a leading yacht management company dedicated to delivering exceptional service to their clients worldwide. With a focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence, they manage a diverse fleet of luxury yachts, ensuring that every vessel operates to the highest standards. My client is seeking a highly skilled and ideally experienced Designated Person Ashore (DPA) to join their dynamic team.
Position Overview:
The Designated Person Ashore (DPA) will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of their managed fleet. This individual will act as the primary point of contact for the crew, vessel managers, and other stakeholders, providing guidance on safety, compliance, and maritime regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in yacht management, maritime safety, and ISM Code compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety and compliance issues for the managed fleet.
- Ensure that all vessels comply with national and international maritime regulations, including ISM and ISPS Codes.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure safety management systems are effectively implemented on all managed vessels.
- Provide guidance and support to captains and crew on safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with flag states, classification societies, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all relevant standards.
- Maintain and update the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and ensure it is adhered to by all vessels.
- Facilitate regular safety drills and training sessions for crew members.
- Monitor and review the safety performance of vessels and identify areas for improvement.
- Keep up to date with changes in maritime regulations and ensure the company’s practices are in line with current standards.
- STCW certification or equivalent maritime qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' onboard or shore-based experience in a similar role within the yacht or maritime industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the ISM Code, ISPS Code, and other relevant maritime regulations.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make decisions in emergency situations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of safety management software and other relevant IT systems.
- Willingness to travel as required.
