About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Outfit/Layout Detail Designer to join our team, working on high-profile defence projects. The role offers flexibility for contractors both inside and outside of IR35. You will be responsible for creating detailed outfit and layout designs for naval vessels, ensuring all deliverables meet client specifications and industry standards.
You will collaborate closely with engineers, naval architects, and other key stakeholders to ensure designs are practical, functional, and meet the rigorous standards of the defence sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs for the layout and outfitting of naval vessels, including accommodations, machinery spaces, and other critical areas.
- Produce 2D and 3D design models using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, safety standards, and client specifications.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including structural engineers and project managers, to deliver design solutions.
- Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback to meet project timelines.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation and design reports.
- Proven experience as an Outfit/Layout Designer, ideally within the defence or marine sectors.
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools and expeirence using FORAN
- Familiarity with naval design standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
- BPSS Clearance is essential – applicants should be willing to undergo security clearance if necessary.
