Are you ready to lead the technical operations of a lifeline ferry service in Northern Scotland?

This is a rare opportunity to join our client as head of their Technical department, shaping the future of their fleet while contributing to vital community services.

The Role
As the senior technical authority for ferry operations, you will oversee the management and maintenance of a diverse fleet of 10 vessels, including 8 RORO ferries and passenger ships. Key responsibilities include:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance to onboard Chief Engineers and the shore-based team, including an electrician and technicians.
  • Fleet Maintenance: Lead dry docking, refits, and maintenance planning for an aging fleet, ensuring service reliability and effective budget management.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with statutory bodies to meet all technical and safety regulations.
  • Fleet Modernisation: Play a pivotal role in the Ferry Replacement Programme, contributing to specifications, tendering, and integrating two revolutionary electric ferries arriving in January as part of the ZEVI project.
What We're Looking For
  • Maritime Expertise: Sea-going background as Chief Engineer, with significant exposure to RORO or ferry operations.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to mentor and manage diverse teams, both onboard and ashore.
  • Innovation-Driven: A passion for sustainability and modernisation in the maritime sector.
