Responsibilities:
- Provide technical guidance on shipboard machinery, operational risks, and bunker quality issues.
- Advise on emerging regulations, alternative fuels, and decarbonisation initiatives.
- Oversee and interpret vessel condition surveys, identifying areas of risk.
- Deliver presentations, training, and technical publications to promote safety and loss prevention.
- Monitor developments in emissions regulations and industry standards, keeping stakeholders informed.
- Support underwriters and claims teams with marine engineering expertise.
Requirements:
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (STCW III/2) with at least 4 years’ senior seagoing experience.
- Shoreside experience in a related field, such as with a classification society, vessel operator, or shipyard.
- Strong understanding of slow and medium-speed engines, diesel-electric propulsion, and dual-fuel systems (e.g., LNG, methanol).
- Knowledge of IMO conventions, IACS rules, and emissions regulations.
- Skilled in preparing high-quality technical articles and delivering engaging presentations.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is advantageous.
