I am currently working with a well known global Shipping company who are looking for a Technical Superintendent to join their team. Like most who join the company, a senior member of staff is entering retirement and is leaving an excellent opportunity open for the right individual. The position is based in the Netherlands but the company operates worldwide.
As Technical Superintendent you will report directly to the Fleet Manager. You will enjoy heightened responsibility for a fleet of Tankers technical operation and safety management. Key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
*Monitor the validity of all class, flag and international certificates.
*Attend and follow up all class surveys as well as all surveys.
*Draw and follow up an adequate maintenance program for engine room, hull, piping, deck, cargo, electrical and machinery.
*Specify work to be carried out by crew, riding teams and contractors and ensure its prompt and cost effective execution.
*Maintain records for maintenance status and progress in the above areas.
*Evaluate vessel performance analysis and ensure that corrective actions and follow up are promptly carried out.
*Maintain and monitor inventories of spare parts, tools and instruments.
*Liaise with yards, contractors and vessel for carrying out repairs as necessary.
*Before dry-docking, draw up a complete repair specification and submit specification with budgeted cost.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Shore based experience as technical superintendent
- Tanker experience
-A marine engineering background (preferably sailing as Chief engineer)
- Fluent English language skills
- Significant management/leadership skills
- Strong organisation, delegation and interpersonal skills
- Strong budgeting experience
