Marine Field Service Engineer - Dubai
The position performs 'expert' functions in the engine product servicing, maintenance, overhauling, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrading of the companies engine products and auxiliary equipment.
Provides technical service support capacity for a range of marine engine products which could include any or all of the following services:
*Learns to commission new engine product on board ships for either propulsion or auxiliary generator applications.
*Learns how to commission engines and auxiliary equipment in power plant installations.
*Learns the company's Application and Installation Guidelines (A&I). Conducts installation audits to ensure engine installation is correct.
*Learns the parts technical identification process.
*Thorough knowledge and understanding of heavy fuel systems and operations.
*Thorough knowledge of engine lubricating oils, usage, maintenance and analysis.
*Thorough knowledge of engine coolant specifications, treatment, usage, maintenance and analysis.
*Provides 'expert' product knowledge to our customers and end users of the safe handling, operation, and maintenance of our engines in accordance to the published guidelines. This includes having a thorough understanding of the standard TBO's, maintenance intervals, and standard parts lists and work routines.
*Has the capability to troubleshoot technical and engine performance issues that our customers and end users are not able to solve on their own. This support is to be provided on board the vessel or at the plant location, as well as remotely via phone / email.
*Knows how to facilitate and to carry out and supervise engine maintenance, overhauling, repair and upgrading jobs with no immediate supervision. Knows how to go about a job in the most practical and efficient method. Understands the financial and commercial offer with each service job and works to ensure that they job is completed on time and within budget.
*Must have a strong character and able to lead and supervise larger service teams.
*Learns how to audit installations related to ancillary equipment of balance of plant under specialist supervision where necessary (e.g. - gearbox, shaft line, clutch, coupling, pumps, heavy fuel module, separators, coolers, heat exchangers, control equipment, monitoring equipment, safety system, sensors, indicators, pickups, engine governors both electronic and mechanical hydraulic).
*Performs 'expert' field service, maintenance, overhauling, repair and upgrading services on engines and auxiliary equipment onboard vessels, oil rigs, platforms, offshore installations and power plants.
*Performs 'expert' servicing, maintenance, overhauling, repair, and upgrading of engine components in the workshop or onboard vessels.
*Preference is to have at least some basic knowledge and experience of electrical systems.
*Travels extensively outside of home Country to attend to overseas field service assignments.
*Writes and prepares in a timely manner detailed service reports and punch lists in the required format.
*Promotes the spare parts and service sales by advising customers on engine maintenance guidelines in association on the actual condition of the engine or equipment. Gather intelligence while onboard the vessel such as engine operating hours, condition, maintenance history, dry docking schedule, and customer related information.
*Reports any commercial or potentially legal issues or concerns to management.
*Needs to be professional in terms of behaviour, communications, attitude and appearance. Good command of English language.
*Personal computer skills and familiarity with standard software packages is required.
*The position typically requires a college or university degree, marine engineer certification, or equivalent experience in the field of servicing of marine and or land based power plant medium speed heavy-duty diesel engine products.
*Requires a sufficient degree of diplomatic, communication (English language) and listening skills. These can come from certain backgrounds but tend to be a built up from a range of experience prior to holding this position.
*Basic Salary will range from 8,700 p.m. AED - 15,000 p.m. AED depending on experience.
*Housing Allowance will range from 4,000 p.m. AED to 6,000 p.m. AED depending on experience.
*Transportation Allowance will range from 1,200 p.m. AED to 1,700 p.m. AED depending on experience.
*Overtime rates are in addition to the above.
